Dr. William Brooks, Senior Advisor at the Reischauer Center, met with a delegation from Japan as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program, an exchange program arranged by the Meridian International Center for the U.S. Department of State. They discussed Dr. Brooks’ experience in Okinawa working to find a solution for the removal of Futenma base, whether or not the new base in Henoko is necessary in future US military strategy, and the continued geostrategic importance of Okinawan bases in global security.
