On Monday, September 20th, Dr. William Brooks, professor of Japan Studies at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies | SAIS and senior advisor to the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies presented to SAIS students, Visiting Scholars, and Reischauer Policy Research Fellows on the challenges of researching and writing academic reports.
He outlined the research process including topic selection, research methodology, styles of reporting, useful publications, and most importantly how to avoid unreliable sources. Students and researchers actively engaged with the discussion, highlighting their own upcoming projects as well as research challenges they have experienced.
