Towards a Disaster-Resilient Asia

On Monday April 15th, 2019 the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies welcomed Dr. Yasuyuki Sawada, Chief Economist at the Asian Development Bank – ADB, to give a talk on the implication of trade conflict, the environment, and society on disaster resiliency in the Asia-Pacific. In his presentation, titled “Towards a Disaster Resilient Asia,”

Dr. Sawada gave a holistic overview of Asia’s economic growth Asia, and discussed methods of developing the infrastructure needed for disaster preparedness. Questions fielded from the audience surrounded methods of measuring the economic growth of Asia-Pacific nations and their relation to disaster resilience.
